Our Experience
Altay started guiding back in 2004 in the small town of Kas. The first four years he worked as an outdoor sports guide, and then four years working at mostly cultural sites all around Turkey. Since 2012 he has been combining sightseeing with outdoor activities including drive and guide tours in Eastern Turkey, Hike & Sail tours in western Turkey. Living a mobile life (van-life) Altay has worked in various outdoor projects, allowing him, to experience all the popular and hidden sites of Turkey from up close. This in-depth understanding of all the region has to offer allows him to lead the Roots team when planning and designing bespoke adventure trips for guests.

- Termessos, Antalya – located at 1000 m within a beautiful national park, Termessos combines nature with culture, summarizing our travel ethos better than anywhere else
- Hagia Sophia, İstanbul – Built in just 5 years and in one of the worst periods of mankind, not only does this amazing structure show us the importance of faith but it’s also a perfect summary of religious history in Asia Minor.
- Karahantepe & Gobeklitepe, Sanliurfa – One of the most important archaeological discoveries of the century changing the way we understand the course of human history
- Cappadocia – A wonderful blend of Byzantine art, natural wonders and local life that can be found nowhere else in the world.
